About Jacob

For over a decade, motherboards have been my obsession. It started back in college, where I practically lived in the university's computer lab, overclocking every system I could get my hands on to push the limits of computational power for AI research. That initial fascination led me down a rabbit hole – I even voided the warranties on a few ASUS ROG Crosshair boards back then! After graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I spent seven years at a prominent PC component manufacturer, initially designing VRMs and power delivery systems, and later specializing in overall motherboard architecture and performance optimization. I've personally benchmarked and tested hundreds of boards, from the budget-friendly ASRock models to high-end workstation boards from Supermicro. These days, I consult with several smaller PC hardware companies, and I still build my own rigs – my current daily driver is running an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D on a Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master motherboard with a custom water-cooling loop. I'm passionate about demystifying the complexities of motherboards and helping people build the best possible systems for their needs. When I'm not tweaking BIOS settings, you can find me hiking in the Cascade Mountains, trying to unplug and recharge.
